These terms govern your use of REMODEL (remodel-the.world). By creating an account you agree to them.

What REMODEL is

REMODEL is a software platform that helps homeowners plan remodeling projects, compare bids from independent contractors, and pay for work in stages. REMODEL is not a contractor, does not perform construction work, and is not a party to the construction contract between a homeowner and a contractor.

Estimates and AI guidance

Cost ranges, savings figures, schedules and AI answers are planning estimates based on available data. They are not quotes, professional engineering, architectural, legal or financial advice. Confirm important decisions with licensed professionals.

Contractors

Contractors must hold the credentials Wisconsin requires for the work they bid on and keep general liability insurance in force. REMODEL reviews the credential number and certificate of insurance a contractor provides before they can bid, but does not guarantee any contractor’s work, licensing status after review, or conduct. Contractors are responsible for permits, code compliance, the statutory lien notice (Wis. Stat. § 779.02(2)), and all obligations under Wisconsin’s home improvement practices rules (Wis. Admin. Code ch. ATCP 110).

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. When a homeowner funds a stage, the money is held in REMODEL’s Stripe platform balance and is transferred to the contractor only when the homeowner releases it. Contractors receive payouts through Stripe Connect and agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. REMODEL deducts a platform and processing fee from each contractor payout, shown before the contractor bids. Released payments are final through REMODEL; disputes about work quality are between the homeowner and contractor, though REMODEL may help mediate and may refund funds that have not been released.

Your responsibilities

Provide accurate information, keep your password secure, and don’t use REMODEL to mislead others, avoid fees by taking payment off-platform for work arranged through REMODEL, or violate any law.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, REMODEL is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for the acts, omissions or work of any homeowner or contractor, and its total liability is limited to the fees REMODEL received in connection with the project in question.

Changes

We may update these terms and will post the new version here with its effective date.
